Dr Immanuel (Manie) de Wilde’s remarkable career in medicine began with a passion for science and a deep desire to help others. Growing up in Rustenburg, South Africa, he excelled at academics while fostering a curiosity about healthcare. After matriculating from Bergsig High School in 1988, he pursued his M.B. Ch.B at the prestigious University of Stellenbosch, graduating in 1995.

Dr. de Wilde’s early career included foundational training at Paul Kruger Hospital and a private practice in Ficksburg, where he also served as District Surgeon. Seeking international expertise, he trained in the United Kingdom at Exeter Nuffield Hospital under Dr. Graham Gie, mastering the revolutionary Exeter Hip Replacement Technique. Upon returning to South Africa in 2000, he specialised in orthopaedic surgery at the University of the Free State under Prof. RB Snowdowne, completing rigorous training to refine his skills.

Since 2005, Dr. de Wilde has been a dedicated orthopaedic surgeon at Wilgeheuwel Hospital, treating over 20,000 private patients. His expertise spans hip, shoulder, and knee surgeries, with a focus on minimally invasive techniques like arthroscopy. Known for his patient-centric approach and innovative methods, he continues advancing orthopaedic care, combining compassionate treatment with world-class precision to restore mobility and quality of life for his patients.
